About GEM’s Work Study Positions

GEM work-study position are reserved for self-identified women, trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming UVic students.

We strongly encourage people with disabilities, queer and trans people, and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of colour) to apply.

About UVic’s Work Study Program

Work Study funding is intended to facilitate experiential learning opportunities for students who are authorized to participate in the
Work Study Program.

The 2025/2026 Work Study Program will run from September 3, 2025 to April 22, 2026. Work Study is not available during the summer term (May – August).

All students must have a valid Social Insurance Number before commencing work in a work study position.

2025-2026 Positions

Thirdspace Coordinator

The Thirdspace Coordinator (165 hours available) will create programming to engage the community with the GEM lounge, library, and art space. Activities may include book clubs, art builds, media campaigns, discussion groups, and showcases. They will also support program promotion, contribute to in-house publications, maintain the space and library, gather community feedback, and represent GEM at outreach events.

We’re looking for someone with creative thinking, a passion for art and media as tools for social change, and a demonstrated commitment to intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive, decolonial, and sex-positive analysis.

Resource Coordinator

The Resource Coordinator (165 hours available) will support educational programming related to sexual and reproductive wellness, gender-affirming care, and gender-based violence support. They will help maintain and update GEM’s resources, provide peer support, restock and track wellness supplies, collaborate with other groups, and assist with volunteer recruitment and training.

We’re looking for someone with strong community support skills, compassion in sensitive conversations, and a demonstrated commitment to intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive, decolonial, and sex-positive analysis.
